The VAT point most comparisons miss

DAFZA is on the UAE's list of VAT designated zones; DMCC is not. Designated-zone treatment only affects certain movements of goods under specific conditions; services are standard-rated in both zones. For a consultancy or tech firm this makes no practical difference. For a goods trader moving stock through the airport, it can. Read more in our guide to VAT for DMCC companies.

Choose DAFZA if…

  • Your goods move mainly by air freight through DXB and you hold stock near the airport.
  • You are in aviation, aerospace or time-critical high-value logistics.
  • Designated-zone VAT treatment of your goods flows is a material saving after advice.

Choose DMCC if…

  • You trade commodities and want DMCC's vaults, exchanges and dedicated gold & diamond and coffee & tea centres.
  • You run services, tech, crypto or gaming and want the broadest activity list and community.
  • You want the leanest start: a flexi desk package with up to 3 visas, and transparent official pricing.
  • You want your team in JLT, with metro access and Dubai Marina next door.

DMCC's official costs

DMCC publishes its fees: AED 12,055 one-time, plus AED 20,285 a year for a standard trading or service licence (general trading AED 50,265).
