A DMCC visa renewal is simple on paper and easy to get wrong in practice. Every renewal runs through the DMCC member portal, depends on a valid licence and establishment card, and has to clear medical and Emirates ID before Immigration issues the new e-visa. Our JLT-based PRO team handles the whole chain so your staff, partners and investors stay in status.

Who can renew a visa under a DMCC company

DMCC only accepts renewal requests from companies that meet three conditions:

  • An active DMCC licence and a valid establishment card
  • Full compliance with DMCC rules — no overdue filings such as the annual audit
  • No active sanctions or portal blocks on the company account

If any of these is out of date, the renewal cannot even be submitted. Fixing the blocker first is usually the job — and it is where most DIY renewals stall.

DMCC visa renewal process, step by step

  1. Pre-check (we start 30–45 days before expiry)We confirm the licence, establishment card, passport validity (minimum six months) and health insurance are all valid.
  2. Portal requestWe submit the renewal under Employment Services in the DMCC member portal with passport, photo, current visa page and insurance details.
  3. DMCC reviewDMCC checks the file and releases the medical form.
  4. Medical fitness testWe book the medical at an approved centre around the employee’s schedule.
  5. Emirates IDBiometrics are captured or reused and the ID is renewed in parallel.
  6. Immigration approval and e-visaDMCC forwards the application and the renewed e-visa is uploaded to the portal.

DMCC’s published processing time is about 3–5 working days once the request is complete; the medical and Emirates ID steps usually set the real pace.

Renewal with an amendment

You can change details at renewal instead of filing a separate amendment:

  • Job title change — needs an attested educational certificate for skilled titles
  • Name change — needs attested proof of the name change
  • Nationality change — needs both the old and new passports

We source and attest the supporting documents through our DMCC PRO services desk so the renewal is not held up.

What happens if a DMCC visa expires

After expiry there is a short grace period, after which overstay fines accrue daily for the visa holder. Draft service requests left untouched in the DMCC portal are voided automatically after 60 days, so a half-finished renewal can quietly lapse. We track every expiry date on your quota and start renewals early.

If the visa holder has left the company, the right step is a DMCC visa cancellation, not a renewal. For new hires see DMCC visa services, and to check how many visas your office supports read DMCC visa quota explained.

DMCC visa renewal — FAQs

How long does a DMCC visa renewal take?
DMCC’s own processing time is about 3 to 5 working days once a complete request is submitted. Allow one to two weeks overall to cover the medical test and Emirates ID.
How much does a DMCC visa renewal cost?
DMCC charges around AED 2,200 for a one-year renewal and around AED 2,790 for two years, plus the medical test, Emirates ID and health insurance. We confirm the live total before you pay.
When should I start renewing a DMCC visa?
Start 30 to 45 days before expiry. That leaves time to clear any licence, establishment card or insurance issue that would block the portal request.
Can I renew a DMCC visa if my licence is expiring?
No. DMCC requires an active licence and valid establishment card before it accepts a visa renewal, so the licence renewal has to be completed first.
Do I need a new medical test for a DMCC visa renewal?
Yes. A medical fitness test is part of every residence visa renewal. We book it at an approved centre and track the result in the DMCC portal.
Can I change my job title when renewing my DMCC visa?
Yes. DMCC offers renewal with amendment for job title, name or nationality changes. A job title change normally requires an attested educational certificate.
